A interesting little park close to the Jubilee Queen is the Ireland
Park.
For those having a wedding reception onboard the ship it is
a great location to get some interesting pictures with the sculptures,
Limestone Wall, Glass Tower, the Island Airport or the Jubilee Queen in the
background.
About The Ireland Park
Toronto's Ireland park was
opened on June 21st, 2007. It was created to
commemorate the thousands of Irish (Almost
40,000) who settled in Toronto after leaving
Ireland during the great potato famine in 1847 and to recognize
the hardships and suffering that they went
through.
 |
The park features
sculptures which helps to tell the stories of the
what many of
the new arrivals had to endure.
Some of the sculptures include; The
Jubilant
Man, The Pregnant Woman, The Woman on
the Ground, The Orphan Boy and
the Apprehensive
Man. |
|
A limestone wall in the park lists over 600
of the estimated 1100 Irish
immigrants who did not survive the
journey to Toronto. |

 |
For those looking to donate to the park your
contribution of $100 will buy
a glass brick which will be used to build an
illuminated glass tower.
