When is Oktoberfest?
Although it's called Oktoberfest it has traditionally
started in the 3rd week of September & ends the first Sunday in October. (16
Days including the last Sunday in October).
In 1990 when East & West Germany reunified it was changed so
that if the 1st Sunday in October falls on either October 1st or October 2nd
then the festival would not end until October the 3rd which is the German
Unity Day (A national holiday to celebrate East & West German's
reunification).
* Oktoberfest roots date back to 1810 in Munich Germany with
the marriage of
Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess
Therese. Residence of the town where invited to celebrate the occasion in
the fields around the city gates.
