 Toronto Skyline

The Toronto Skyline is ever changing.

Thousands of new emigrants come to Toronto every year and the city is growing and the skyline is changing to meet the needs of it's newest citizens. Unique buildings, condos,  parks and other amenities are being added to the waterfront all the time.

At first glance the most noticeable part of the Toronto Skyline is the Toronto CN tower. The CN tower is 181 stories or 553 meters high. Built in 1976 it holds the record for the tallest building in the world. It comes complete with an arcade, restaurant and over 10,000 square feet of retail space. It is also a communication hub that provides those in Toronto and surrounding areas some of the clearest reception in North American

The next thing you might notice is the round white object right next to the CN Tower. That object is a downed ufo shot down by the Canadian Air force in the late 1990's. (JUST KIDDING) It's actually the Rogers Centre (Renamed February 2, 2005) formally know (currently by us older folks) as the Skydome. The Rogers Centre is an entertainment centre that is host to baseball games (Toronto Blue Jays), football games (Toronto Argos), concerts, monster truck shows (Sunday, Sunday Sunday:-) and a wide variety of other events.  Built in 1989 it replace the CNE Grandstand Stadium (Built 1948) demolished January 1999 to make way for a parking lot. The Rogers Centre can hold up to 60,000 people at one time and is host to 100s of thousands every year. It is also home to one of the worlds largest video screens measuring 110 feet wide and 33 feet high.

The first Canadian Place is the tallest office building in Canada. It is over 72 stories and has more then 2.8 million square feet of space. Built in 1975 it is second only to the CN tower as a prime communications site. It has over 3 levels of restaurants, shops and other services to handle the over 16 million visitors it receives every year. It's entrance way has a 23 foot ceiling with crystal chandeliers and the walls are covered in rare marble.

Many other tall building dot the Toronto Skyline and the best way to see the skyline is from the water on a Toronto Boat Cruise!
